The 5
days long ANNUAL YOUTH FESTIVAL AND SPORTS MEET
organized by Radhamadhab College, Silchar, was
scheduled from 28th January (Monday) to 1st February
(Friday) 2013. It came to an end with a grand prize
distribution ceremony and a colourful programme. The
financial assistance for conducting the events was
granted by the Government of Assam. The programme
began with a unique rally in which students,
teachers and non-teaching staff of the college
participated in their full capacity. Students
dressed in their traditional attire performed dances
during the inaugural rally, which started from the
collegepremises on 28th January, 2013 at 7.30 A.M.
The special attraction of the rally was Khasi, Naga,
Manipuri and Dhamail performances by the college
students. The programme was officially inaugurated
by the Principal of the college, Dr. Pronoy Ranjan
Deb.
Numerous competitions were held in this connection,
which included both intra and inter college
Patriotic Song competition, Nazrul Geeti
competition, Modern Song competition, Folk Song
completion, Folk Dance competition, Alpana & Mehendi
competition, Cookery competition, Musical Chair, Art
& Photography competition etc. In the sports
category also inter and intra college Carom Board,
Table Tennis, Badminton, Short-put and Chinese
Checker competitions were held. Students from
Radhamadhab College, G. C. College, Latit Jain
Commerce College and Women's College participated in
the said events.
The
special attraction was an inter-college panel
discussion competition which was held on 29th
January, 2013 and the topic for the said panel
discussion was "Problems faced by the youth in the
modern Era". Hon'ble MLA of Silchar, Sushmita Dev
participated in the said event as the Guest
panelist. She started the panel discussion and gave
a brilliant performance rising above party politics.
Ex-MP and former teacher Kamalendu Bhattacharjee was
the judge of the said event. The panel discussion
was compared by Sudarshan Gupta, Assistant Professor
of the college. Tamal Chakraborty, a student of G.
C. College, Silchar bagged the 1st position in this
event. |
